Just after 3 pm on Halloween the Pioneers along with mutual aid were dispatched to the first block of N Church St in the Borough for a reported house fire. Deputy 15 while en route to station advised LCWC of a column visible and requested the working fire dispatch added, Chief 12 along with EPD arrived shortly after advising of a well involved duplex with fire on both sides and requested the 2nd alarm be dispatched. Initial units worked to control a wind driven fire that started exterior and worked its way inside. Crews were able to contain the damage to what was initially done and prevented and further extension. Units from 10 area departments worked for approximately 3 hours to bring the fire under control before cleared in the scene. The Pioneers were assisted by units from Lincoln, Akron, Reamstown, Denver, Lititz, Rothsville, West Earl, Farmersville, and the air unit from Reinholds along with EMS from Ephrata Ambulance.
